WHAT IS A LYMPHATIC DETOX?

You may have heard of lymphatic detox, but what exactly is it and what are the benefits?

Simply put, in a manual lymphatic detox (MLD), a facilitator helps to encourage the natural movement of the lymphatic system which is responsible for carrying away waste products and excess fluid from the body's tissues. It plays a vital role in our health and is essential to our immunity.

Unlike the cardiovascular system, our lymphatic system does not have a built-in pump  — which is why the lymphatic system needs manual “draining” in order to keep the system humming optimally. When it slows, immune health is compromised.

How Does a Lymphatic Detox Work?

A lymphatic detox session can last anywhere from 60-90 minutes on the table and then a 30 minutes Ionic Deotx Bath afterwards.  It can be especially beneficial for anyone who is suffering from edema, sinus congestion, or chronic fatigue. It can also help to improve immunity and digestive function. It is great for autoimmune disease, acne, rosacea, sinusitis, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, Lyme disease and constipation. It is a wonderful technique for healthy individuals who are wanting to boost their immune function and feel their best.

During the lymphatic detox, I will use gentle pressure and rhythmic movements to stimulate the flow of lymph fluid. Although far from a deep tissue massage, this modality can be incredibly effective. A light touch on the skin is all that is needed to help increase the movement of fluid through the lymph vessels. I work on the face, abdomen, legs, arms and back making sure to address all the major lymph node areas.  I also incorporate the use of Red Light Therapy, vibration plate, therapeutic massager, essential oils and the Biomat to help break up congestion and increase the flow of fluid. This also helps to reduce swelling and promote healing.

What are the Benefits of a Lymphatic Detox?

Some studies have shown potential benefits including:

🗝 Reduces swelling and inflammation
🗝 Improves immune function
🗝 Enhances detoxification
🗝 Boosts energy levels
🗝 Supports digestive function
🗝 Promotes relaxation and reduces fatigue

Lymphatic detox encourages the circulation of lymphatic fluid through your body via pressure and motion, hence increasing detoxification. It also helps to improve energy levels and reduce fatigue.

Additional Ways to Promote Lymphatic Movement

In addition to a manual lymphatic detox sessions, individuals can support their lymphatic health through:

Exercise: Movement is great for your lymph nodes. Physical activity stimulates lymph flow and overall circulation
Healthy Diet: Consuming a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables supports lymphatic function. This keeps your lymphatic system clean (along with the rest of your body)
Hydration:  Adequate water intake is essential for maintaining lymphatic fluid balance
AVOID Sugary drinks and sweets. These items overwork the system
Walking: Just a 10-minute walk in the fresh air will help to get the lymphatic system moving
Dry Brushing:  This technique involves gently brushing the skin to stimulate lymph flow
Deep Breathing: Deep diaphragmatic breathing can encourage lymph movement

What makes my process so different than salon-style lymph drainage session is the use of 13 different essential oils from Young Living and the Ionic Foot Detox bath at the end of the session.  The oils I use are: Release, Valor, Frankincense, RC, Clarity, Citrus Fresh, Cypress, Grapefruit, Nutmeg, Orange, DiGize, Thieves and Lemon.  These oils encourage lymph flow and help to minimize detox symptoms.  The Ionic Foot bath at the end of the session is necessary to help pull the toxins and fluid that was pushed to the liver during the session.

I love this amazing testimony from one of my clients:

"The lymphatic detox and foot bath from Rhonda has alleviated excess water retention, itchy ears, cellulite reduction and chronic mucus in my throat.  I have also experienced emotional release such as old memories resurfacing and moments of joy that I haven't experienced in years! Would recommend it to anyone wanting to begin their wellness journey!"  - AW

A lymphatic detox is important for maintaining good health and helps to encourage the natural movement of the lymph system. If you are considering a lymphatic detox, be sure to speak with your doctor first to see if it is right for you.
