Sugared Nuts

Who doesn’t love candied nuts?? This was the one thing that I always grabbed when at a state fair or holiday vendor event. This was also one of my favorite childhood memories that my mom made every Christmas! Of course, making them my mom’s way with corn syrup or cane sugar just couldn’t fly any longer in my home. Through several batches of experimenting, I came up with this recipe. I have made them with honey but I will say that I definitely prefer maple syrup for my choice of sweetener.

Not only are nuts a good fat, but this is just another way to get these awesome oils in my gut!

 Healthier Spicy Sweet Nuts

2 cups of organic pecans (or nut of choice)

1/4 cup of organic maple syrup (not pancake syrup) or honey (I use this brand: https://amzn.to/3IlLDSo )

Celtic salt (I use this brand: https://amzn.to/3P4X2tt )

3 drops of Young Living’s Cinnamon Bark Vitality Oil (could also use Thieves Vitality)

Roast nuts for 5 minutes or so in a nonstick skillet stirring constantly. Add the sweetener and turn up the heat a tad while continuing to stir until the nuts caramelize. Then add a few shakes of salt and the oil of choice.  Mix together well with a rubber spatula and pour out on parchment paper to cool.

Once they have cooled, they are not sticky to touch (if they are, then pop them back in the skillet and cook for a few more minutes).  Break up any large pieces and begin to devour them!

I have made this recipe with almonds and even mixed nuts and they are always delicious!

Feel free to experiment with this recipe and try a savory batch with a few drops of Rosemary or even Lime Vitality oil!

May your blessings be numerous ~ Rhonda🌻
